The measure of all things

What do you prefer? Having few things or a lot of them?
In the world, we have very rich people and very poor people. But in between we have an undetermined average, a kind of pendulum that oscillates from one side to other side.
We can figure out that the human being’s main desire is to be human. Something like to play a role in the world, or speaking better, to seek the meaning of life. Some people would like to find their loves and enjoy their passions to establish their sense of humanity. In summary, to find perfect partners or soul mates. Others would like to have a job and the opportunity to activate their talents to explore their potential. It wouldn’t be a profession but the opportunity to enjoy their spirit of adventure to pursue their goals. And, at the same time, there are people who decide to stand in there to look upon life passing slowly and live their lives in thoughts distant from real life.
While we focus on these goals we need to find skills or ways in order to survive in a world where it is most important to save money and have power. A lot of people decide to accumulate assets and wealth, even though they have a conscience that they won’t enjoy them forever. There is a moment that everything becomes ashes, and it is no longer important to have possessions.
We have to find a balance to live surrounded by desires and have everything that we want to sustain a supposed decent life. It is not possible to live on an island surrounded by a sea of situations and propaganda. It is not possible to live among people and, suddenly, start imitating the actions and behaviours of others, looking for references in the middle of the eyes of strange people or looking at the mirrors of our narcissism.
Is there a formula to fix this? Yes, but the question is if we genuinely desire to fix this. We know some strategies to walk in the middle of stones and we insist on swimming in troubled waters, surrounded by dangers. Happy people live far from everything and see the world from distant places, even if these places only exist in their imagination.
During the pandemic times, many people started understanding life according to these perspectives. Some people learnt and others didn’t resist living their lives the same way.
Did we learn anything? Did we attempt to find the measure of all things? Did we try to find a balance, the same balance that we have in our imagination? And now have we the opportunity to achieve this balance?
While we lived in isolation, to prevent from Covid, the Narcissus’s mirror didn’t exist to reflect our egos. Some people needed to have their Narcissus’s mirrors and after that hard times these people were thrown onto the streets, despite the dangers. Today a lot of us are taking care of our lives but some of us didn’t learn the measure of all things or lessons during the pandemic.
Then, we have greedy people who measure much being little, and profligate people who measure little being much.
Knowing the measure of all things is an epiphany, a moment of enlightenment, when we understand everything or, at least, almost everything. We won’t get to understand the measure of all things, but we can get things as we get to know them.
