Summer rains

In Brazil, the seasons of the year are not defined and clear. Like a tropical land, we have a winter with rains and a summer that is extremely hot. Other seasons are not rigorous as other countries. The winter is in July and August but in Rio de Janeiro, for example, we have the little summer of July because there aren’t any rains. The weather is dry and the sun shines. In August we have a worried wind running all the time. For us, Cariocas, that is the real winter: the wind.
In summer, its rains a lot and reminds me of a kind of nostalgia. There are hot days and suddenly a quick rain wets everything with its thick and cold drops and surprises us in the streets. Then, sometimes, the sun appears and the day becomes days full of light, and we see the problems caused by the storm in the streets. In January, the rain causes many problems in the cities, and in March the rain stops, and the summer is over.
But, I would like to talk about my nostalgia when the summer is coming. Summer doesn’t start in December but in November when the stores are decorated for Christmas and there is a special vibe in the air. The sensation is an atmosphere that reminds me of the past, and it’s time to make new plans for the next year.
As well as summer rains, the celebrations for Christmas are brief, and wishes of prosperity and a Happy New Year are so fleeting.
But there are other summer rains. Fleeting love, Carnival love, the first day of a new job, and through time the days become sad and monotonous. Summer rains are drops that surprise us and they aren’t storms, they are tears dropping down from the sky. Storms are terrible, unexpected abrupt news.
Rains play a song on the roofs, they bring provocative thunderstorms like a train that passes and doesn’t stop at the station. Thunderstorms are funny clowns announced that the circus is arriving in the city. White clouds invade places and cars need to light up their lights. Life is almost like that. There are fears, frights, and amazement.
We can define nostalgia as a sweet romantic vibe that makes us think about memories and passionate moments. Living frights, we are winter, autumn, and spring. In summer we are undefined. We are fleeting clouds filling up with summer rains.
