What have we become?

There is a difference between what we want to be and what we truly are, or will be. Our wishes are often greater than our ability to turn them into reality. Reality is bigger than our dreams, and it’s impossible to make them come true; therefore, we become what we don’t want to be.
This metamorphosis comes from both our desires and the opportunities that society gives us to reach our dreams. If we have no understanding of our own abilities, we won’t become what we want to be; however, our wishes never leave us.
In fact, when we imagine being among the best, it’s often about society’s expectations, or what we imagine society expects of to be. Society often imposes its own rules, which are not written on paper but from common sense. Then people agree with them like flocks, and they follow them, simply, because others do the same thing. In short, society usually directs our dreams, and there is nothing we can do about it.
The metamorphosis to reach our wishes it’s a personal transformation to face reality as it is, and not as it seems to us. Some people become like others and follow the same patterns. There are false teachers who act in a kind of limbo, not as real people, but as attractions that honour what is not deserved. We try to be recognised by a system that always rewards the same few. We often believe we will be among the winners, but this aspiration only exists in our imagination. So, if our wishes are greater than our talents, only opportunities can make us the chosen ones.
It’s difficult to ignore the world because our wishes are not prepared to face reality. Then, we become what reality allows us to be, not what we wish to be. Life doesn’t care about us. It’s like following the same formula that others use to gain wealth. We often think that we will be the smartest people around, but in reality, we are using the art of trickery to deceive.
Is it easy to challenge the system that binds us? Yes and no. We can give up, and life goes on as it always does, not because we understand it, but because it is impossible to live outside of reality.
We can change our lives when we follow rules created by ourselves, not those that destroy our wishes. It is difficult to live within a system that, in certain way, protects us, but doesn’t protect us from itself.
To renew ourselves is to become another person, someone who looks at the world and tries to survive in it. While the herd walks in a straight line without reflection, the observer tries to find opportunities within it. Changing means being opportunistic because opportunities exist only for those who are alert. Changing is surviving among survivors.
