Falling apart
This expression surprises me. It sounds like the act of dismantling, and we can imagine objects, people, or characters falling apart before us.
I often feel undone when I see people on social media saying absurd things, especially those who are graduates in various fields of science, including those with academic degrees. I wonder what’s happening to knowledge because, in my opinion, there is supposed knowledge being used to defend indefensible causes. I think that academic degrees were achieved not because people were looking for knowledge, but because they wanted to serve stupidity.
I fall apart when people misuse religion for their own purposes. I respect religion; however, I’m not a religious person, as I explained in another text, because some people need spiritual comfort to keep going in this world. But when I see religion being used to spread misinformation, I see it decline due to its misuse, undermining the spiritual comfort, so necessary in difficult moments in life.
I fall apart when I don’t challenge ignorance. It is hard to argue on social media and try to persuade those who don’t want to be convinced, who laugh a lot while the world around them is being dismantled. I believe that they are laughing, but they are nervous. I think that humanity, for the most part – or at least the noisiest -, enjoys this moment and this dismantling of our spirit.
Knowledge is cruel. It reveals reality and frightens us because if we truly understand reality, we would suffer. This suffering awakens our desire for survival. When we come into contact with suffering, we feel distressed because we are trying to understand reality. But it is the moment that we find the strength to resist and refuse to allow this distress to destroy our hope.
We have to resist despite those who deny reality and its impact on our existence. We need to maintain our composure and serenity in the face of these challenges, and not fall apart, but be brave enough to challenge our adversities. There is a clear pattern when ignorance tries to control the situation around it. Ignorant people are cowards and pretend to fight against evil, but they always cause disturbances, because lazy people are not interested in knowledge.
If we don’t fall apart, this attitude represents resistance, and it is the best way to show our strength. We know ignorance will not endure for long. It will disappear with time, and the most important thing is to persist and try not to let our spirits fall apart.
